Just over a week old, I was invited in to this family’s home to photograph baby J. I adore sessions in the home that show a family as they are and in their surroundings. There is so much beauty in … Continue reading
I’m not sure that this session could have been any more adorable. But you don’t have to take my word for it.
I have known Devonna since kindergarten in Las Cruces. She is the mastermind behind my logo design and runs a fantastic graphic design business called Funky Olive Design.
On an unsuspected snow day in Sandia Park, New Mexico, I began the day with Stella, Heath, and their parents as they went about their day. From bathtime to bedtime, I had the honor of telling a small bit of this little family’s story.
I adore the concept of day-in-the-life sessions. I love that these precious memories and moments that are soon lost to the recesses of time can be saved and revisited in years to come. I believe that there are so many days beyond the wedding day or senior sessions that are valuable and worthy of photography.
I had been talking to Steve for a while before our shoot was planned. Steve and Felicia had a distinctive vision for their session to incorporate some of the classic style of the Mad Men era. Steve did most of the leg-work for the shoot due to his familiarity with the architecture around the UNM campus. I loved all of the locations that Steve found and the attention to details in the surroundings that many people would miss. Steve & Felicia brought out their cute-as-a-button puppies for some of the photos and I am so happy with how everything turned out! We finished the session at The Pit since going to Lobo basketball games is a favorite pastime for the couple. In fact, Steve live tweets during games. If you are a fan of Lobo Basketball, be sure to follow the action at HowlinLobo.
I can’t begin to describe what a special and awesome opportunity it was to be able to photography baby Heath on his first day in the world. Nothing was posed, nothing was contrived, I was there to photograph a little family as they welcomed their 4th member and spent a few quiet moments in the maternity suite getting to know this new little person.
